The Beggar's Blessing

5 Saturday 29 september
Tartu Üliõpilasmaja, Kalevi 24
Enor Niinemägi,
„The Beggar’s Blessing“
Performance for all age groups.
Our performance was originally staged as a Christmas performance for children. But now we have adapted it and renamed it as The Beggar’s Blessing. It has an aesthetic and playful nature – the verbal speech of actors has been minimized or cut completely and the story is told with the help of instruments, gestures, shapes and movements.
The performance is based on Estonian fairy tales collected by M. J. Eisen. The first version of the play concentrated on the miraculous nature of the stories, but now we look at the materials from a slightly different perspective and focus on the phrase „the beggar’s blessing”, exploring what other meanings it gives to the fairy tales.
The Beggar’s Blessing“ was voted as the audience’s favorite on this year’s Students’ Theatre Festival in Viljandi.
