What’s that coming down? Is it a car? A plane? A boat?

The answer is DON’T KNOW because at this event it can be whatever you come up with. Assemble a team, build a flashy vehicle and ride down the hill… SIMPLE.

If building is not for you the just come and take. The ride downhill is always a spectacle (teams are awarded for putting on a show).

🎢 The competition is in two parts: BUILDING and RIDING

🎢 Registration opens on September 3rd

🎢 The competition happens in teams of 4, but you can also register without a team

🎢 All competitors must be 18+

PS! The last Bambus was over ten years ago which makes this event an absolute classic.

Rules

Content of the event:

The event consists of two parts, the first of which is team construction of vehicles and the second is driving them down Uueturu street. We expect the participants to build vehicles on site, where the organizers have brought the necessary materials and tools. The event is won by the team whose teamwork, the technical side of the vehicle and the show brought to the spectators on the way down is the most awesome!

Event rules:

  • The materials and tools needed to build the vehicles  are organized by the event venue organizer. Participants do not need to worry about that. There may be situations where nearby friends can provide the teams with materials or tools etc with the permission of the organizers.
  • The basic materials needed for construction are provided to all participants. The basic materials are: euro base, four 5×5 beams, two wheels, six 90x90x65x2 corners, 20m of rope, twenty screws and twenty nails. In addition, there are also so-called “shop”, where during the competition it is possible to buy materials that make different vehicles better or more beautiful with a given currency.
  • In addition to the basic materials, each team is provided with a saw, hammer and knife. In the same way, it is also possible to borrow special types of tools from the Makita tent where they are set up. If necessary, trained technicians guide the use of tools.
  • Event participants are allowed to bring a personal pocket knife or a multitool, which can be used as necessary during the construction process. Other tools (except those provided by the organizers) are not allowed.
  • Each team is assigned its own construction area, where they can plan and build vehicles. They have 2 hours and 30 minutes to build the vehicles and think of a show that goes along with the ride down.
  • Construction of vehicles takes place only in the construction area, minor repairs are also allowed elsewhere. By minor repairs, we mean repairs that do not require tools (except for a personal multitool). Repairs that require tools must be carried out in the construction area.
  • After the completion of the vehicle, it must pass a technical inspection, where a jury assembled by the organizers carries out quality control and evaluation of the vehicles. They have 30 minutes to evaluate all vehicles.
  • The jury has the right not to allow the vehicle onto the track if errors are revealed during the technical inspection, as a result of which the vehicle may break down or endanger the persons riding in it.
  • Teams that have not passed the technical inspection have the right to repair the vehicle and submit it for a new inspection up to three times. After the third failure, the team that made the vehicle gets a disk key.
  • After passing the technical inspection, the teams have to take their vehicles to the starting point at the intersection of Vanemuise – Ülikooli street.
  • At least two team members must drive down Uueturu street in the vehicle, but two other team members can also participate during the show. When driving downhill with vehicles, selected team members must wear a helmet, the availability of which is guaranteed by the organizer.
  • On the way to the finish, the jury has to present a show that matches and tells the story of the built driving machine.
  • The top three of the competition are formed based on the points received from the jury. Points are awarded for: 1) machine mobility; 2) for the safety of the machine, 3) the appearance of the machine, 4) teamwork and 5) for the show created for driving under.
  • After reaching the finish line, the teams must remove their vehicle from the finish line and, if possible, dismantle it.

The organizers of Bambus reserve the right to modify the rules and terms of the contest. All participants will be notified of the changes before the start of the competition.
