Rules

The event Flash of Fashion will take place on the 26th of April.
The sewing of the fashion collections will happen between 13:00 and 19:30.
The fashion show of the collections will take place on the same day at Lodjakoda, starting at 20:00.

Registration takes place via the registration form, which can be found on our homepage www.studentdays.ee and under the Facebook event.
Registration starts on 06.04 at 18:00

A team consists of three members. You may bring friends to model the collections but the sewing of them must only be done by the team.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Three-member teams must design and sew a clothing collection consisting of three outfits within 6 hours (13.39-19.30) . The collection will be presented at the fashion show on the same day.  The models are the designers themselves, but you may bring friends to model for you, having notified the organizers in advance. All three outfits must be connected to the event’s theme, which is “Tartu”. The sub-themes of the outfits are: “Emajõgi”, “Tartu Citizen”, and “Beauty Lies in Simplicity”.

All materials and supplies (including sewing machines) will be available on site, but participants may bring their own tools if it is more convenient for them, notifying the organizers in advance. In addition, they are allowed to bring up to 3 small details to incorporate into their outfits in order to make their collection especially unique. A large pieces of fabric or anything that will give a major advantage is not allowed. The shoes used in the collection have no limits and they must be brought by the participants themselves.

There will also be 3 instructors on site to assist participants with design and sewing, so that even beginners can manage successfully.

EVENT RULES:

• Before sewing, teams will have 10 minutes to look at the fabrics and accessories and discuss their ideas. After that, they will have 5 minutes to collect their desired materials.
• Materials must fit into the containers given by the organizers. Teams will then have 3 hours to sew. Later, there will be an additional 10-minute period for collecting materials.
• Taking items from the material pile outside these allocated times is prohibited, but exchanging materials with other teams is allowed.
• In addition to sewing, participants may also use other techniques such as glueing and taping.
• Costumes and models must be ready by 19:30 in order to present the collection at 20:00 on the fashion show stage.  The performance order on stage will be determined by a on-site draw.
• The teams have 3-5 minutes each to present their collection and all teams can choose their preferred music for the presentation.
• The collections will be evaluated by a jury consisting of Anu Kikas, Jüri Muttika, and Liise Lugna. Each jury member may award up to 15 points, making the maximum total score for a team 45 points. The evaluation will be based on a 5-point system in the following categories: the collection as a whole, the vision (how well the 3 outfits match the theme), and the presentation of the costumes (music choice, originality of the show, and the model’s confidence). Points will be deducted for any missing costume.
• According to the jury’s decision, the top three teams will receive prizes. There will also be a special award for Best Model and Best Sewing Job. In addition, there will be a public vote to choose the Audience Favorite.
• By registering for the competition, the participant confirms that they agree to all the rules of the competition.
• By registering for the competition, the participant consents to being photographed or filmed by photographers and videographers present at the event.

The organizers of FLASH OF FASHION reserve the right to modify the rules and terms of the contest. All participants will be notified of the changes before the start of the competition.
