Records on Flames has been held only twice, first in 2016 and, after a long break, again in 2023. Nevertheless, the event has become highly popular among students. Last year, performances took place on two different stages!

During the last edition, 17 talented DJs took part in the preliminary rounds, with four advancing to the final held at Genialists' Club.

Rules
The event will take place on 24.09.2025, from 22:00 to 03:00.
The venue for the event is Genialists’ Club.
The main competition of the event will take place in the Black Hall.
Registration is free.
Registration takes place via the Records on Flames registration form which can be found on our homepage www.studentdays.ee and under the Facebook event.
Registration opens on 29. AUGUST at 18.00 and closes on 10. SEPTEMBER at 23.59.
Participants must be aged 18+.
Event details:
The main DJ competition will take place in the Black Hall of the Genialistide Klubi. Five participants, selected through registration, will perform behind the DJ booth. The first participant will start at 11 p.m., and the competition will end at 3 a.m. The winner will have the opportunity to perform a final set. Each participant will have 45 minutes. Each participant must be present 5 minutes before the end of the previous set and be ready to take over the set. After the last participant’s set, both the winner of the event and the audience favorite will be selected.
Event rules:
- All permitted technical systems and sound equipment can be used in addition to those available on site.
- The competition will evaluate the performer’s technical skills, originality, completeness of performance, presentation skills, creativity, and connection with the audience.
- To participate, you must fill out a form, which can be found on the Tartu Student Days website or under the Facebook event.
- The deadline for registration and demo submission is September 10, 2025 at 23.59.
- The demo sent with the application form must be at least 20 minutes long.
- A preliminary jury will select 5 finalists from among those registered for the competition, who will be invited to perform at the event. Finalists will be notified of their advancement by September 13th at the latest, and their names will be published on Facebook by September 21st at the latest.
- Each finalist will have exactly 45 minutes to perform at the competition.
- All genres and original compositions are allowed. Finalists will also receive a letter informing them of the artist from whose repertoire they must creatively integrate a song into their set.
- During the competition, the set must be mixed at the spot.
- The finalists will be evaluated by a jury of experts.
- The jury may deduct points for violations of the rules.
- The best performer will be awarded the title of Best Record on Flames DJ 2025. In addition, the audience favorite will be selected from among the finalists.
- By registering for the competition, the participant confirms that they agree to all the rules of the competition.
- By registering for the competition, the participant consents to being photographed or filmed by photographers and videographers present at the event.
The organizers of Records on Flames reserve the right to modify the rules and terms of the contest. All participants will be notified of the changes before the start of the competition.
