Rules

Student Band will take place on the 26th of September in Tartu Uus Teater. The event will start at 20.00.

To participate, you must fill out the participation form, which can be also found on the Student Days website (studentdays.ee) and under the Facebook event.

Every band member must be over 18 to participate. There must be at least two people in the band, at least one of whom must be a student at an Estonian university.

EVENT DESCRIPTION AND RULES
In order to participate, a questionnaire must be filled in by the 25th of August, to which, among other things, two original songs should be added. At least one song must be presented in video format. The presented video does not have to be anything special, a clip filmed with a phone placed in the corner of the rehearsal room is fine. Based on the submitted video and songs, the preliminary jury will select five bands who will compete in the final concert at the end of September. The names of those who have advanced will be announced on Facebook as well as on the Student Days website.

Those who have passed the demo round will be sent a questionnaire on the 1st of September, where they have to write down their technical needs, the plan of placement on the stage while performing, and the names and lengths of the pieces to be performed. It is possible to use all instruments and sound equipment at the competition, which have been coordinated with the organizers in advance.

Each band participating in the finals can do a sound check on the day of the competition, the time of which will be agreed with the band in advance. In case of excessive delay, the sound check will be cancelled.

The length of the performance at the final concert must be maximum 20 minutes, which consists of original songs and also a cover of a song that will be given. The song to be covered will be announced to those who passed both on the website and in a post under the Facebook event. The purpose of the cover is to see the personality, genius and originality of the participants. In the case of a time transition, the jury reserves the right to take this into account when determining the winner.

At the end of the competition, the jury will crown the winner of Student Band 2026, the best vocalist, the best instrumentalist and the best cover. The evaluation looks at the group’s distinctiveness, originality, musicality and stage presence. In addition, the audience’s favorite band will also be crowned, which will be determined by an on-the-spot vote.

The organizers of Student Band reserve the right to modify the rules and terms of the contest. All participants will be notified of the changes before the start of the competition.
